Behind your resting eyes

I escape the poem while you sleep
and watch you from such small distance
that my chest nearly touches yours.

Who are you, bearer of my meanings?
Who am I when you move above the lines
on my palms and alters my destiny?

The world I know
vanishes, little by little,
behind your resting eyes.

  1. I think the questions you ask in the second stanza are essential to understanding the meaning of relationships - the way one person can affect another's life so profoundly.

  2. Kerry has voiced beautifully what this poem speaks. Yet I can see someone on a park bench sleeping and you wondering where you fit into his dreams...beautiful. Thanks for participating in the challenge.
